Hard to believe we are on the 6th day of this trip. 6 busy days of colours, food, sight seeing, culture, art, photography and stimulating conversations. It has been hard to even find time to get onto the internet! Every place we have visited has been a surprise. Stacey, our guide has made it an adventure.
We have stayed in some amazing places along the way as well. Last night's hotel in Bikaner could only be summed up as a 'palace/museum'. Stayed up half the night taking photos, looking at all the pieces of history on the wall and around my huge bedroom. Indian cooking lessson was superb! The chef was very patient - perfected the art of chapati making (flat bread)!
Crossing streets in these towns is a definite juggle, in anything goes traffic. How many people can fit in a tuk tuk - Answer: as many as you can fit! Our first day in Delhi on a rickshaw at peak hour which only be described as systematic chaos. We filmed it all on a Flip camera to show you when we get back. In addition, cows and goats have right of way!
Spent 8 hours creating my first traditional Haveli painting of "Thorn Girl" and another 4 hours working with a miniature painting artist. I had forgotten how wonderful it is to be so immersed in creating art. The artist who ran this workshop is in the Guiness Book of Records for his work. A photograph of our group is in the local newspaper, delivered personally by the artist this morning.
Travelled 6 hours from Bikaner to Jaisalmer today. Dinner on the roof of this hotel overlooking the fort - sunset will be absolutely breathtaking!
